I’m an enthusiastic, compassionate Veterinary Surgeon with a good sense of humour, available to provide locum services to small animal clinics in the Auckland area, for both short and long-term relief. I’m open to discuss positions in other New Zealand regions.
In 2002 I graduated from Utrecht University in The Netherlands and after briefly working in a small animal clinic in Arnhem, I was offered
a job in New Zealand. In August 2002 I left The Netherlands and settled in New Zealand and since that time I have worked continuously in several Auckland small animal clinics and have acquired New Zealand Permanent Residency status.
My practising style is very personable and involved, and I believe it’s important to create a comfortable and trusting professional environment for my patients and their caretakers. You may be
assured that I am reliable and punctual and am positive, supportive and respectful towards staff and clientele.
Challenges are a very important part of my life. I’m passionate
about both the challenges in Veterinary Medicine and the challenges in my personal life.
I decided to become a locum Veterinarian in order to have more flexibility in my professional and personal life; and most especially to
be able to focus on my other passion – endurance sport. I committed myself to completing an Ironman event, and the New
Zealand Ironman in Taupo in March 2010 has been my first one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this event and after running Melbourne Marathon in the same year, I went on to complete my second Ironman New Zealand in March 2011. I thought it was time for a break after this and I decided to spend some time in The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy with my family. It can’t be all play, so it was back to work for me after this!
I’m sure more events will follow and currently I am focussed on long distance open water swimming.
